Casio unveils G SHOCK watches with Bluetooth LE 4.0 support Casio G SHOCK GB 6900

Casio Japan will be releasing their new G-SHOCK GB-6900 watch in March, a wristwatch that’s built with the typical G-SHOCK ruggedness but updated to support Bluetooth 4.0 LE (low-energy) tech – basically a Bluetooth connection that consumes less power than your garden-variety Bluetooth (despite the live connection, Casio says the watch’s battery is still good to last two years). Like a number of Bluetooth-enabled wristwatches that we’ve seen before, the GB-6900 will be able to display info for incoming calls, as well as alerts for e-mail and text messages. The Bluetooth tech will also let it sync the time with paired smartphones.

Fossil’s Meta Watch is another smart watch that smart people never seem to buy Fossil Meta WatchHey look, it’s another smart watch. You know, a smart watch. It’s basically a watch with a digital display and a Bluetooth connection that can connect to the phone in your pocket. They’ve been around for some time now, like this BlackBerry watch from InPulse. Still don’t remember? Can’t blame you. It’s simply one of those nifty ideas that just never seemed to catch on (which makes us wonder what would happen if Apple had a go at it). But it looks like companies are still willing to pump them out. The latest being Fossil, who just announced the Meta Watch, which is basically a watch that rocks a digital display and a Bluetooth connection, which then allows the phone in your pocket or the tablet in your bag to push messages and notifications to the smart device strapped to your wrist.

Awesome watch alert! The Slyde HD3 makes excellent use of a digital screen slyde HD3

It hasn’t been officially unveiled yet, but here’s a digital watch that you wouldn’t mind slapping on your wrist if your into top tech. Called the Slyde HD3, it’s built around a full-color LED-lit touchscreen that can be used to change the face and format, from your typical digital numbers and chrono dials, to something really unique but still totally readable (unlike some really weird, artsy pattern-type watches that actually costs you time to read the time). It’s also tough as, well, a sportwatch, with a water-resistant (down to 30 meters) titanium body. Finally, this thing looks good enough to wear with a tailored suit (thanks to the overall good taste by designer Jorg Hysek Jr), which is something that you just can’t pull off by wearing a strap with an iPod nano clipped to it. Unfortunately, it’s likely going to come with a premium price. They didn’t mention pricing just yet, but don’t expect this beauty to come cheap. Demo video after the break.

ABIT unveils cloud connected wristwatch phone ABIT watchphone

It’s probably not the most original concept, since the idea of a wristwatch that you can make calls with have already been around, but since they’re so few and far between (not to mention the fact that they’re still quite rare), they’re pretty noteworthy. The latest company to try attaching a tiny phone onto a strap is Japan’s ABIT. It’s still described as a concept product, but it’s reportedly working.
