Verizon targets the iPhone with flagship HTC Droid Incredible    Verizon Droid Incredible

Verizon has just announced their newest flagship smartphone, the Android-based Droid Incredible by HTC. It’s being set up to target Apple’s incredibly successful iPhone armed with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, an 8 megapixel cam, Wi-fi connectivity, and a 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED screen that runs an Android 2.1 operating system with HTC’s Sense UI.

Nokia outs new phones with QWERTY pads and short names: the C6, C3 and E5    Nokia C6 aNokia has just announced three new phones that (apparently) fall under their new simplified model line. The C6, C3 and E5 each come with a different feature set, but all share one common factor: a QWERTY keypad for quick messaging.

LG’s GD880 Mini features awesome HTML5 ready Phantom Browser    LG GD880 Mini 1LG has just launched the GD880 Mini, a full touchscreen phone that comes with just about everything to make it relevant to today’s market. Featuring a slim body that houses a 3.2-inch screen, the phone features what’s pretty much accepted as standard fare, including 3G, Wi-fi,, GPS and Bluetooth plus a 5MP cam that supports geotagging, but that’s not the highlight here—at least not in a world that’s full of smartphones with a comparable spec. The highlight would be its advanced web browser.

The guys over at MOTO Labs sought to find out which of today’s popular smartphones have the best touchscreen, and fashioned a touchscreen test that included a robot and a drawing app. Who came out on top? In terms of accuracy and sensitivity, the results show that the iPhone tops this bunch of mobiles made up of the HTC Droid Eris, Motorola Droid, Google’s Nexus One, Palm Pre, and the Blackberry Storm 2.

Unlocked XPERIA X10 phones hit the stores attached to crazy price tags   SE XPERIA X10

Sony Ericsson’s XPERIA X10, the company’s first Android smartphone that was formerly known as “Rachael,” is starting to hit online store shelves. Not for the light-of-wallet though, since online prices range from around $770 at Plemix to a $955 listing on Amazon for the unlocked, non-subsidized handset. It’s just been launched though, so if you’re looking for a high-end smartie with a 4-inch touchscreen, an 8MP cam (with touch focus, image stabilization, face and smile detection) Wi-fi, Bluetooth, and3G/HSDPA connectivity, you should expect to pay top-dollar. But if you’re not willing to spend that much on a phone, you might want to wait a while, let the hype cool off, and let the prices drop.
