Sony has announced that the Bloggie Sport HD, the rugged pocket camcorder that they unveiled at CES 2012, has started shipping. If you didn’t catch the unveil, the Bloggie Sport HD is a pocket camcorder – one capable of recording 1080p videos – that they wrapped into a shock-proof, waterproof and dirt-resistant shell. Basically a camcorder that’s tough enough to survive whatever outdoorsy thing you’re into right now and record it in high-def for showing to the folks back home. Video after the break.
Sony has introduced the Xperia Sola, an Android-powered smartphone with a 3.7-inch screen that’s highlighted by a unique “floating touch” interface. What’s that, you ask? Technically, the 854 x 480 Reality Display LCD will still act like your regular touchscreen interface, but this phone will let you navigate the interface by hovering your finger over the screen without touching it. The phone will track your finger like a mouse, letting you highlight text and links.
Sony finally revealed their North American launch plans for the dual-screened Tablet P they unveiled last year. The good news is that we won’t have to wait long. The Tablet P will be launched on AT&T on March 4 for $400 with a two-year contract, or $550 unsubsidized. A bundle will also be offered that packages the Tablet P along with Sony’s Xperia Play (aka “The PlayStation Phone”) for $300, as long as you’re willing to sign up for a two-year contract for both devices.
As expected, Sony has added two new smartphones at MWC: the Xperia P and Xperia U. Both smartphones slot in below the flagship Xperia S that they unveiled at CES, with all three falling under their Xperia NXT series that features easy hookups with other devices.
Sony’s upcoming Xperia U smartphone has turned up in a number of earlier leaks before, so it likely won’t be that big of a surprise when Sony finally unveils it (it’s expected to be officially introduced at MWC during Sony’s press conference). Well here it is again, shown beside the Sony Xperia S (LT26i) in a series of live photos.
