Some notebooks promise designs that aim to make you stand out, but Sony took the concept of “stand out” design seriously by splashing extremely bright and vivid colors on their new 15.5-inch VAIO E Series notebooks. Coming in candy-colored tones that wrap around to the interior panels, Sony offers even more customization options with patterns and different colored keyboard skins that allow you to make your “E” truly unique. Because really, don’t you just hate it when you enter a café and see someone else who has a laptop that looks exactly like yours? That’s embarrassing, right? (Right?)

Sony Europe has recently confirmed that the VAIO Z laptop will come with a number of features to push performance, including options for a quad SSD setup. Four solid state drives linked together in a RAID configuration. On a 13-inch notebook. That’s four fast drives on a notebook that you can walk around with comfortably.

Sony has just launched a dressed-up VAIO W for their Signature Collection–a 10.1-inch netbook that sports a unique winter-themed exterior design just in time for the holidays.

Sony has just updated their pocketbook-sized VAIO P netbook with a Windows 7 OS, which should work much better than older, slower Vista-running models. New spec options are also available to match the new operating system, with a faster 2GHz Intel Atom processor and 256GB solid state drive (and a $1,900 price tag). The VAIO P can still be bought with the original base configuration for $850 that includes a 1.33GHz Atom processor, 2GBs of memory and 80GB hard drive (plus the Win 7 update). The new models will be available by the end of November.

It’s late to the party, but Sony is now catching up with other notebook manufacturers by introducing a spill-resistant keyboard on the Vaio BZ. It’s the first time Sony has ever offered this feature, which, Sony says, has been a top request from their customers for a while. All we can say is, Sony sure took its sweet time on this one.
