Okay, so Sony’s news about the Playstation Vita’s delay (it won’t be available for the holidays) has you down, but Sony still has something to keep your gaming-starved thumbs busy. They’ve announced that they’ll be releasing a new PSP bundle that includes a copy of EA’s Madden NFL 12 and Need for Speed: Shift and a 2GB Memory Stick Pro Duo along with the handheld. The bundle will be out on August 30 for $160, giving you a good deal in case you really can’t wait to get your hands on a mobile console until the PS Vita arrives early next year. Unless you already own a PSP.

Making way for the NGP? Sony drops PSP price to $130 Sony PSP ad

The Sony Next Generation Portable (or NGP) is still a number of months away from being released (it’s due out in late 2011 in Japan), but apparently, Sony’s already starting to clear their stocks. They’ve now lowered the base kit’s price down from $170 to $129.99, which should also keep it competitive in a year that’s expected to be filled with a number of next-gen portable gaming devices—smartphones and tablets included. Prices for the PSP’s other bundles have also been slashed, with the Entertainment Pack now down to $160 from $200. Video ad filled with kids thanking Sony for, well, apparently being all kinds of awesome for coming up with the PSP, after the break.

Or at least try to. At around the 9-minute mark, he’s still gagging. Yeah, it made us squirm. Not because of the potential dangers of ingesting burned plastic, metals and battery acids, but… you know, it’s a waste of PSP. Somebody tell these guys that Jackass is so 2002. You’ve probably seen worse, but if you were looking for idiotic videos on YouTube, here’s an effective way to waste 10 minutes of your life. Video after the break.

And wouldn’t you know it, a game developer—one of the biggest, no less—just acknowledged that they saw details of Sony’s upcoming handheld console.

Sony’s EyePet for the PSP will let you feed a pet that isn’t there PSP EyePet 2

Sony just expanded their EyePet game title by adding a mobile version for the PSP. What’s an EyePet, you ask? First introduced for the PS3 for use with the PlayStation Move accessory, it’s basically a virtual pet that you can interact with using motion controls. Sort of a new-age Pokemon, if you will. So if you or the kids are into caring for a “pet” without having to deal with actual feeding, cleaning and having to “send it to the farm” when it gets old, then this is your kind of pet right here.
