If you’re a guitarist, you own an iOS device, and you’re down with using digital tech, DigiTech (by Harman) has put out what could be the last stompbox you’ll ever need. Or at least the last one until you need a wah-wah pedal. Anyway, the iStomp basically works like every other guitar effects pedal, but this one can hook up with an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch for downloading new pedal sounds, tweaking settings, or creating entirely new effects using a matching free app.
A guitar with no strings? Apparently, it’s possible. Stranger things have been invented, after all. But unlike the really simple, drunken-dude-idea that inspired the iBottleOpener, a lot of thought has been put into this one. That’s not to say that whoever thought of inventing a stringless guitar wasn’t spaced-out at the time, but the resulting product is nothing short of awesome. First seen way back in January, the Kitara by Masa Digital is now up for pre-orders.
For those about to rock, you’re going to like this. Fender just gave out new details about the upcoming Squier by Stratocaster Guitar and Controller for Rock Band 3, which is an actual electric guitar that you can use both in-game and onstage. You probably already know about it if you’re a fan of the Rock Band franchise, but Fender just released the price and along with the rest of the guitar’s details. It’s going to cost $280, which might be a bit pricey for a game controller, but it’s a fair price considering that you also get a fully functional electric guitar. And if you’re just starting out, you can pair this guitar with the game’s Trainer Mode to learn the ropes.
Mad Catz just put out pricing and details for the new set of Rock Band 3 controllers. In case you didn’t know, Rock Band 3 will be introducing a new Pro mode that’ll have you matching the songs note-for note to give you a more realistic “rockstar” feel, which means you’re going to want the new controllers if you want to try out the new mode.
First off, the new “new thing”: Rock Band 3 will be adding a keyboard controller to the mix, bringing the number of band members to seven (that’s for guitar, bass, drums, three vocals, and the keyboards).
