SteelSeries has just unveiled the Ion Wireless Controller, a wireless gamepad accessory that connects via Bluetooth for mobile gaming. It’s a little bit more unique than what you’d usually pick up from Logitech or Razer though. It won’t just work with PCs and laptops; it’s also designed to work with smartphones and tablets.

However, while touch-based games like Infinity Blade and Angry Birds work perfectly with Apple’s devices, it doesn’t apply for all the games developers have ported over. That’s where 60beat and their GamePad accessory comes into play: it’s basically a console-style gamepad that plugs into an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch via the device’s 3.5mm headphone jack.

Sony announces new $160 PSP bundle, out by the end of August   psp bundle august2011

Okay, so Sony’s news about the Playstation Vita’s delay (it won’t be available for the holidays) has you down, but Sony still has something to keep your gaming-starved thumbs busy. They’ve announced that they’ll be releasing a new PSP bundle that includes a copy of EA’s Madden NFL 12 and Need for Speed: Shift and a 2GB Memory Stick Pro Duo along with the handheld. The bundle will be out on August 30 for $160, giving you a good deal in case you really can’t wait to get your hands on a mobile console until the PS Vita arrives early next year. Unless you already own a PSP.

Razer just showed off a new handheld gaming concept machine at the CES show. Called the Switchblade Concept, the device is basically a tiny Windows 7-based, Intel Atom-running mini-PC that’s been tweaked specifically for gaming-on-the-go. The notebook-shaped device features a 6.8-inch multi-touch screen, and a dynamic keyboard with keys that change their assigned functions depending on the game being played.

Nintendo to drop DSi and DSi XL prices in September    Nintendo DSi

If you were planning to get a Nintendo DSi or DSi XL, try waiting a couple of weeks. Nintendo just put out word that they’re going to be dropping the two handheld consoles’ prices by $20, setting the DSi’s price to $150, while the larger-screened DSi XL’s price drops down to $170.
