Here’s an interesting mobile accessory from Japan: a Bluetooth keyboard that also doubles as a VoIP handset. Called the TK-MBD041 by Elecom, the device is designed for tablet users who want to make VoIP phone calls more ergonomically. Or at least with a way that’s more natural compared to, say, holding your 10-inch tablet close to your face.
Braven has introduced a new portable mobile speaker kit that promises to do a lot more than you average speaker kit. Called the Braven Six Series, the line includes three speaker models that pack in a number of nifty features that make it a good match for smartphone owners, from wireless audio streaming to charging.
If you don’t own a smartwatch (yet)… then you’ve probably decided that you don’t really need one. But if you’re kind of looking into it thanks to the recent crop of new options, well here’s another one. Sony’s MW2 SmartWatch is now up for pre-order on their US online store for $149. If you have no idea what a “smartwatch” is, it’s basically a wristwatch with a digital screen and Bluetooth connection. Paired you’re your smartphone, the watch will let you check messages and emails, as well as social network updates and alerts without having to pull your phone out of your pocket or bag.
If you’re an avid camper, outdoorsman, or just someone who somehow lives outside of the power grid, then you either already have a way of charging your mobile devices on-the-go, or you’re looking for the perfect alternative charger. Unfortunately, there isn’t one. But here’s another option if a compact solar charger isn’t feasible. Power Practical’s PowerPot is basically a travel cooking pot that uses heat to generate electricity. Probably not as compact as you’d like, but it’s definitely practical if you plan on doing some cooking under the stars.
Protective cases for today’s modern toys are pretty common, ranging from cheap plasticky covers to fuzzy silicone-y bumpers, with just about every color and design possible. Unfortunately, designs made for more refined tastes are pretty rare. If you’re looking for a protective sleeve for your laptop, iPad or iPhone that looks good enough to match your leather shoes and tailored suit, here’s an option. Falcon Gray has put out a line of protective cases made out of high-quality leather, specifically designed not just to protect your laptop or iDevice, they look good too. Okay, we know that looks are a matter of opinion, but seriously, people with taste just can’t go wrong with hand-stitched, handcrafted leather. It certainly looks better compared to cheap, generic rubber bumpers. (more…)
