During a press event in Moscow where Intel rolled out the first MeeGo-based netbooks, a local Intel exec pulled out a couple of devices that weren’t even on anyone’s radar yet. No one knows anything about them yet, but look! A smartphone and a good-sized touchscreen tablet that packs an Intel Atom inside sticker running on a MeeGo operating system. More photos after the break.
That’s according to Nokia’s outgoing mobile executive VP Anssi Vanjoki, who told the Financial Times in an interview that switching to Android won’t stop the company’s falling market share. According to the report, loading Nokias with Android operating systems would simply be a stop-gap solution that wouldn’t help in the long term, and likened it to Finnish boys who “pee in their pants” during the winter to keep warm. (Yeah, that only works for a few seconds, and then it gets bad when your wet pants freeze over after a few minutes. Don’t ask why we know.)
Leaked images of Nokia’s upcoming N9 smartphone has surfaced (via this Chinese site), showing a metal unibody frame (is that aluminum?), black keys, and a glossy black bezel framing the screen. Does it look familiar to you?
