Waiting for word about HTC’s upcoming high-end One X? It looks like we don’t have to wait long. A source told BGR that AT&T is getting ready to announce a ship date for the HTC One X within a couple of days, followed by an actual release five to seven days after.
The “iPad mini” rumor mill just started churning again after new details popped up in China. Chinese net portal NetEase reported that Apple is planning to release a smaller iPad tablet around the third quarter of this year to fight off the Windows 8 tablets that’s expected out later this year. The report also mentioned that the compact iPad will cost between $249 to $299, and that there’s going to be an initial stock of 6 million units ready for launch day.
Press renders of the HTC Golf just turned up early in a leak posted on PocketNow. It’s reportedly going to be an entry-level device that sits somewhere below HTC’s One series. Looking like the One X’s shorter brother, the HTC Golf has been detailed to run on a single-core processor with a clock that’s lower than 1GHz, a 3.5-inch display that packs a 480 x 320 resolution, 512MB RAM and 4GB of integrated storage. Despite the entry-level spec, the Golf will come with Android 4.0 and HTC’s Sense 4.0 interface.
Word of a Motorola phone called the Droid Fighter has been turning up in leaks since February, but it turns out that it could be just a codename. A new set of photos posted on the net suggests that the Droid Fighter could be called the Droid RAZR HD when it launches. The names were revealed by the photo’s EXIF data, which contains both “DROID RAZR HD” under the model name, as well as the “Vanquish,” which is the device’s earlier codename.
Sprint will be launching the LG Viper 4G LTE, their first LTE smartphone, on April 22… at least according to a leaked internal memo that we have no reason to doubt. Sprint did mention that pre-orders start on April 12 along with an offer for free cloud storage for people who sign up before April 22 after all, so the dates do line up.
