There are docks made for the iPhone and iPod touch, and docks that’ll let you park either an iPhone or an iPad. But if you own an iPad and an iPhone and ever found yourself having to decide whether to charge or play content from one or the other, wouldn’t you want a speaker dock that’ll let you park both devices at the same time? We know… that sounds a little silly. Not to mention petty, considering the fact that these devices come with a charger, you can always solve playback source issues with a stereo cable, and there are a lot of other problems you could be wasting brain cells on right now. But just in case you were interested in a dock that rocks dual slots for handling both an iPad and an iPhone/iPod touch, JVC’s got you covered.
JVC brought out the first Kaboom boombox back in 1998, during a time when boomboxes were big. Well, they brought it back out this year, coming with the same subwoofer-backed power and the same portable shape, but updated with 2011-era tech. The new Kaboom RV-NB70 now comes with an iPod/iPhne dock up front, safely sealed behind a transparent door to keep it safe from the elements when outdoors, a USB host port for playing files stored on a portable drive, and a guitar/mic input port at the back to get you rocking on-the-go.
After springing for a 3D HDTV and a 3D-capable Blu-ray player, here’s something you can use to create content to play on your 3D-happy entertainment center. JVC just announced a pair of new 3D HD video camcorders, headlined by the GS-TD1 that the company claims to be the world’s first consumer-class full HD 3D camcorder. This one features two lenses and two 3.32-megapixel CMOS sensors that it uses to capture 1080i 3D content or regular 2D video.
You somehow knew it was inevitable that someone would the relatively small pocket camcorder niche would soon replace those tiny screens and basic buttons with full touchscreens. Kodak did it a couple of days ago with the Playtouch, and now JVC drops a couple into the mix with the Picsio GC-FM2 and GC-WP10. While both feature 1080p recording and a relatively large 3-inch screen that takes up the whole area at the back, the WP10 offers a different twist with a waterproof case.
JVC’s new Everio, the GZ-HM550BUS comes with the trappings that we’ve come to usually expect from, well, JVC’s Everio line of compact camcorders: 32GBs of internal flash memory to keep it light, an SDHC card slot for quick and easy—not to mention cheap—expansion, a 10.6 megapixel sensor, and 1080p HD-quality video recording at 60 frames per second that’s way better than the basic 720p you’d normally get from a cheaper pocket camcorder. What’s interesting with this new model is the addition of a Bluetooth connection that lets you control the cam’s functions wirelessly with a smartphone.
