Software company Blaze Software just put out the results of a test that tried to determine which smartphone browser was faster, using an iPhone 4 and Samsung’s Android 2.3-powered Nexus S. After 45,000 page loads, they found that “Android’s browser is faster. MUCH faster. On average, Android 2.3 was a 52% faster than iPhone 4.3,” and concluded that “Android was faster than iPhone in 84% of the tested websites, and iPhone beat Android in 16% of the races. This demonstrates Android wasn’t just faster overall, but rather provided a faster browsing experience 4 times out of 5.”
Apple disagrees with the test procedure though.
A new navigation tweak for jailbroken iPhones will be hitting the Cydia Store soon, adding a turn-by-turn navigation to the vanilla Maps app that ships with the phone. Developed by iPhone devs TheZimm & InfectionFX (probably not their real names), the Turn by Turn Navigation app works together with VoiceActivator, another great app from the Cydia Store that enables you to take control of the iPhone’s Voice Control feature for launching apps and web pages using voice commands. Check out a demo of the navigation tweak after the break.

For most of us, the golden age of console gaming came slithering in during the 90s. Yeah, most of us were all satisfied torturing our nimble, blistered fingers to ravage a multitude of level bosses. That was way back when the SNES was the undisputed altar of coolness and the Sega Saturn was a worthy competitor and hadn’t shown any symptoms of premature demise.
Before we get on to the part about the component leaks, the next iPhone is going to be called the “5”? No “4G” or “-S” this time? Considering all the controversies the initial iPhone 4 design came out with, that’s probably smart. Anyway, this is really not a confirmation that it will indeed be called the “iPhone 5.” It’s basically about the parts right now. A new report from Taiwan gave a few details regarding the next-gen iPhone, including a launch date sometime in spring (which is just about right historically) and some talk about a new processor and Qualcomm chipset.
