Mitsubishi has unveiled an LCD TV that also comes with an integrated Blu-ray player and 500GB hard drive. It’s only a 22-incher, mind you, but the all-in-one kit was designed to save on space, with the drives integrated into the TV’s base. It’s probably not the most handy way to go if ever one of the components somehow burns out, but with the convenience of not having to screw around with power cables and connection cables, an all-in-one home entertainment system is the way to go if you’re in it for a quick and easy setup. It’s also a practical choice if you live in Japan where this TV is being sold, and where living space is often an issue.
What’s this? Another “turn-your-iPhone-into-a-universal-remote” accessory? Yeah it is. It’s not the most unique idea, for sure, but the Griffin Beacon does it a bit differently. Instead of using Wi-fi to hook up the iOS device and the IR receiver, the Beacon makes use of the phone’s Bluetooth connection, which it then turns into an IR signal for controlling your home entertainment system. What’s the difference between using Wi-fi and Bluetooth? They’re both wireless and Wi-fi will give you a higher range, but a Bluetooth connection won’t need a router and it’s a hell of a lot easier to set up.
The Revo RL100 has already been introduced to Asian and European markets late last year, but they’ve finally gotten around to shipping it the US. It’s basically a multimedia-geared Windows 7-based PC built into a set-top box’s body, powered by a 1.3GHz AMD Athlon II processor, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, while NVIDIA’s Ion graphics handle 1080p video playback via an HDMI port.
If you’re one of those people who keep complaining about the price of movie tickets these days or you’re just easily annoyed by the distractions from other people in the theater, then here’s a solution: pick up the world’s largest 3D TV and bring that theater experience home (but without the annoying public). Samsung is ready to let you do that pretty soon: Samsung just announced the 75-inch D9500, also known as ‘the world’s largest consumer 3D TV.’
Despite the name, it’s not an accessory that can turn your iPod touch into an iPhone. This thing’s totally different. The Peel (also known as “The Fruit”) is basically an accessory that works with the Peel app, and serves as the wireless middleman between an iPhone and your home entertainment system, with the ability to turn the phone into a universal remote that’s able to control anything from DVR’s Blu-ray players, Apple TV and Roku kits without needing line of sight.
