Apparel designer and (former) tattoo artist Ed Hardy is the latest celebrity from the fashion world to enter the tech arena by outing a new line of headphones and ear buds. Okay, slapping a name and graphics on a headset probably isn’t that tech-y, but it’s still something you’d use with a smartphone, music player or tablet, so there you go. The new line includes two pairs of over-ear headphones and three sets of in-ear buds.
It’s not clear exactly how involved new Miami Heat player LeBron James was with the design process. Whether he suggested adding the ear hooks or he’s simply adding his name to help with the celebrity spin isn’t in the details, but this new in-ear kit, called the PowerBeats from Monster’s Beats by Dr. Dre line, looks every bit as awesome as the Miami Heat’s 2010 season lineup.
Philips has teamed up with sports apparel brand O’Neill, coming up with a line of headphones for active, outdoorsy-types—basically, the exact same people who are familiar with and most likely use O’Neill’s gear. The new line includes four models; two over-ear cans called The Stretch and The Snug, and two in-ear ‘phones, The Covert and The Specked. Awesome stuff, really. Gear that you have to consider if you fit the Philips-O’Neill target market.
After introducing the G510 keyboard, Logitech completes the gaming accessory update with a new gaming headset and mouse. Both come wireless to spare you from having to deal with cables and are specced to satisfy serious gamers.
