Guinness World Records app for iOS gives you a chance to be a world record holder    Guinness World Records 5

While it’s still a pretty famous – or at least familiar—brand, the Guinness World Records have somehow lost its luster through the years. Maybe it’s because they’ve started including records for unimpressive “feats” that no one really care about, the lamest of which are the ones organized by corporations to push a product (“Most People Sanitizing Their Hands”? Wow). But if you’re still interested in getting your name listed in “the book” for doing something better than anyone else, here’s your chance: they just released the Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition Arcade app on iTunes, giving you a handful of one-minute games to try your best on.

The Guinness record for mobile speed typing wasn’t that hard to beat after all   Guinness text speed record

So here’s the story: a 27 year-old woman from the UK held the Guinness World Record for text messaging speed using a Samsung Galaxy S (aided by the Galaxy’s SWYPE keyboard) to type out a two-sentence message in under 26 seconds. Apparently, that record was still very beatable. 19 year-old Brian just posted video proof of himself beating it, typing the same sentence in under 22 seconds using an iPhone (with auto-correct off, of course), with a couple of split seconds used to both start and stop the timer himself.

The video’s after the cut, and really, you have to see it. Brian didn’t even use the iPhone’s bigger landscape keyboard. That ain’t easy. (Or maybe it’s just us. Typing “Guinness World Record” alone on the iPhone’s virtual keyboard already takes us around 15 seconds.)
