Asus and Google is collaborating on a 7-inch tablet that targets the Kindle Fire with a price tag of $199-249. Details are a bit limited at this point, but the tablet will be out by May, and will be the first to run the Google Play store. According to this report by DigiTimes, Google chose to work with Asus on this one because of their good product quality and ODM capabilities.

Whether through its search properties, or online content, building a robust digital experience for its users has always been among Google’s priorities. For this, products like the Android Market, Google Music and Google eBookstore have been set up to allow users people to easily download, consume and manage their digital content. Today, the Web giant has announced that it has mashed up all these into Android Market, and rebranded it as Google Play.
Google and Samsung finally unveiled the heavily-rumored Galaxy Nexus, the flagship phone designed to showcase Google’s Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) OS. As expected, the phone comes with a high-end spec, with an all-touch interface — Samsung did away with the physical buttons on this one, replacing everything with touch-sensitive buttons below the screen — fronted by a curved, 4.65-inch, 720 x 1280 Super AMOLED screen, and packed inside a slim case that measures only 8.84mm thick.
It’s not as big a revelation as, say, a leak that spills out every official detail of an unannounced phone, but hey, knowing that it’s already out there is noteworthy enough if you’ve been waiting for Google’s next flagship phone. Photos that were apparently snapped by a Samsung Galaxy Nexus have been spotted on Google+, posted by two Google engineers, according to the photos’ EXIF data.
Google and Samsung has sent out invites, confirming that the cancelled Android 4.0 event (originally set earlier this week at CTIA) will be reset to October 19th in Hong Kong. Simply put: for those of you who prefer Android devices over, well, everything else: big day coming up. We’ll finally get to check out Google’s latest OS, Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) as well as Samsung’s reference phone, the Galaxy Nexus (or ‘Nexus Prime’), in a few days.
