Looking for a way around using just your iPhone? Here’s a good one if you don’t mind parting with 40 bucks. Garmin just put out StreetPilot, the company’s first navigation app for the iPhone. The app adds full turn-by-turn directions, lane assist, 2D and 3D map views, weather and real-time traffic updates to a device that probably already have in your pocket.
T-Mobile has just announced that the Garminfone, the dedicated GPS-smartphone built by Asus and Garmin, will be available on store shelves on June 9. The partnership between the two brands have resulted in a number of GPS-equipped mobile phones, but this marks the first Garmin-branded smartphone for the US market.
The partnership between GPS-maker Garmin and electronics giant Asus is on a roll. After releasing the nüvifone M10 and A50 so far this year and the Garminfone under T-Mobile earlier this month, they’re launching another one called the A10. It’s still based on Android, and it still heavily focuses on GPS as much as it’s a phone, but this separates itself from the other nüvifones with a custom GPS app for on-foot navigation.
There are smartphones that come with GPS navigation, and there’s this phone: a smartphone built by Garmin, a company that specializes in GPS navigation devices. Tagged as the Garminfone under T-Mobile (also known as the Garmin-Asus nuvifone A50 everywhere else), the Garminfone combines Garmin’s map and navigation services with an Android smartphone platform to make for something you can use whether you’re moving or not.
SatNav company Garmin has just announced the slim new nüvi 3700 personal navigator, highlighted by a new design that looks more iPod touch than personal navigation device. It’s still built to be used on the road, packaged with a dashboard mount, but the slim new frame that features a 4.3-inch screen easily fits in your hand or pocket in case you want to hoof it.
