While we certainly thought that the Razer Blade was an awesome gaming notebook, we never thought demand for a $2,800 notebook would be this high. So high, in fact, that Razer has run out of their initial stock within 30 minutes of putting it on sale.
Gaming peripherals company Razer finally took the wraps off their first PC, giving it an awesome name – the “Razer Blade,” get it? – and a similarly awesome spec. Naturally, it’s built for gaming, but unlike every other high-end “gaming” system with an edgy design and high-end graphics, when Razer set out to design a gaming laptop, they actually meant it.
If you ever wanted a gaming rig that’ll fit in your bag, then here’s something you might want to check out: Origin PC has unveiled the EON17-S, a giant of a gaming notebook that features a 17.3-inch screen, full-sized keyboard that includes a numpad, and a ridiculous spec (ridiculously awesome, that is). The notebook’s dimensions won’t really say “sexy,” and its 8.6-pound weight certainly won’t make it easy to pack, but the big frame packs a punch for those willing to deal with it: the EON17-S can be outfitted with a spec that tops out with a Core i7 processor that can be overclocked up to 4.5GHz with Intel’s Turbo Boost tech, up to 32GBs of RAM, and a 2GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 485M graphics chip for high-end mobile gaming.

The Razer Switchblade concept device might not have been more than a blip on your radar when it was first pimped out at CES because, well, it was just a “concept” device at the time. It was certainly interesting though: the Switchblade is basically a Windows 7-based notebook with a 6.8-inch screen running on an Atom processor. Unlike your regular Atom-powered netbook, this thing’s specifically designed for gaming-on-the-go with a backlit dynamic keyboard that can be customized to show buttons for games. It should cause a bigger blip pretty soon though, since it’s actually set to start selling in China.
