A leaked Verizon roadmap just revealed what the carrier has in store for the holidays. There’s a number of rumored and previously unknown devices listed here, highlighted by what looks like an update of Samsung’s original 7-inch Galaxy Tab, as well as other Android-powered smartphones from HTC, LG and Motorola.

If you’ve been following the tech beat the past couple of days, you probably ran into this interesting bit of news, where an accessory manufacturer (Anymode Corp.) came up with a folding protective cover for the Samsung Galaxy Tab called the “Smart Case.” Obviously they weren’t that smart, because the case obviously ripped off the Apple Smart Cover’s design. Especially not smart during these times, not when Apple’s on the patent warpath against Samsung.
Is it just us, or is this Galaxy Tab accessory ripping off the Apple Smart Cover? That was a rhetorical question. You don’t even have to go into the details to know that if you’re familiar with the Smart Cover that Apple launched alongside the iPad 2… but we’ll go into the details anyway. This tablet cover is called the “Smart Case,” built by Anymode Corp. and—from the looks of the photos tagged with a “Designed for Samsung mobile” logo—is certified by Samsung.
We know the deal. Like everyone who hasn’t splurged on a tablet yet, you’d love to get your hands on a 3G tablet, but you’re not willing to part with a serious amount of dough to get one. Sure, we get it. That’s why we know that this update might interest you: according to an anonymous tip sent to Engadget, Sprint’s getting ready to drop the 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab’s price down to $199.99, which is a $100 price drop up front if you’re willing to pick up a two-year subscription.
Here’s a new update on an old tablet: A member of the Droid Life forum got this flyer at a tech fair. Yeah we know. It’s iPad 2 launch day today and we’ve got a handful of Android 3.0-running tablets due to launch within the next couple of months (with some available now), so news about last year’s Galaxy Tab might not sound like that big of a deal. But check out the tablet’s headline. Apparently, we’re about to see a Wi-fi only Galaxy Tab early next month. It’s cheaper too, listed at $399.
