T-Mobile has just confirmed that they’ll be launching the “Vibrant,” their version of the Android-powered Galaxy S, on Thursday, July 15. It’s a bit earlier than expected (T-Mo was expected to sell the Vibrant on July 21), but the earlier release date makes T-Mobile the first US-based carrier to offer Samsung’s high-end ‘droid.
We really don’t get why the phones have to be renamed once they get sold on a network, but the Samsung Galaxy S gets another one. According to a leak, T-Mobile will be launching it as the “Vibrant,” days after we heard that AT&T’s launching it as the “Captivate.”
It’s still pretty much the same awesome Android 2.1-based Galaxy S that rocks a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, 1GHz processor and 5MP cam, but the leak gives out a few more specifics on the software side of things.
It’s a bit late, considering that it’s already been out in Europe during the first week of June—especially when they announced that it’ll be launching around the world at the same time—but Samsung’s Galaxy S finally hits US stores under AT&T as the Samsung Captivate.
