Ever since this product launch schedule leaked out back in January, we all expected LG’s Android 3.0-running, 3D cam-slinging, 8.9-inch G-Slate tablet to be released by next week. It looks like it’s going to take a little more time though: TmoNews just got word that it’s set to launch on April 20th, along with the T-Mobile G2x (which is basically the LG’s dual-core Tegra 2, Android-based Optimus 2x). The launch date hasn’t been given the formal treatment yet – we expect that announcement to be made at CTIA next week – but details for both devices (except for pricing) are already available so we should already know what to expect. If you’re looking for a walkthrough, the “officialLGgirl” just put out a video showing off the G-Slate in action. Interestingly, the video also revealed that they’re working on a commercial shot in 3D from the G-Slate’s own 3D cams. Hit the break for the YouTube clip.
A couple of weeks ago, T-Mobile put up their sign-up page for LG’s G-Slate but didn’t reveal any official information about it, save for 4G support and an Android 3.0 OS. They just updated the page with a lot of new info. It’s not complete, but at least they put out the tablet’s highlights, which is basically all you really wanted to know.
Ever wondered about the ship dates for T-Mobile’s new devices? Here’s the answer to your question. A document that shows T-Mobile’s plans for their 2011 devices just leaked out, showing exact launch dates for Dell’s Streak 7, Samsung’s Galaxy S 4G (which is basically a Galaxy S, but with HSPA+ support), and LG’s Android-based G-Slate tablet.
T-Mobile just put up a page for their upcoming LG G-Slate, which means that it’s probably (or at least reasonably) close to launch, although we have no idea just how close. The page is basically a sign-up page for notifications, offering little to no details regarding the tablet itself. It does mention that the G-Slate will be 4G-capable and will run on Android 3.0 Honeycomb though, but they didn’t give any other details besides it featuring the “latest Google mobile innovations.”
T-Mobile just tipped their hand about their tablet plans for the year, and in that hand, was (surprise!) a tablet. The G-Slate is basically the North American version of the Optimus Pad that runs on Android 3.0 and features support for the carrier’s 21Mbps HSPA+ data speeds. T-Mo’s First Look video after the break.
