Well this is embarrassing. Not for us, but probably for Sony. It was recently discovered that the deftly blurred PR shots Sony used for their new 3D-capable Cyber-shot compacts–the new cams that boasted of DSLR-like depth effects that we posted just yesterday—were evidently shot using a Canon DSLR.

Canon has just unveiled the EOS Rebel T2i (also known as the EOS 550D), their newest consumer-class DSLR cam that comes equipped with a spec that’s good enough to compete with far more costly cams, but with a three-digit price range that should still appeal to non-pros. This new cam is still based on the older Rebel T1i released last year, but moves to the top of Canon’s popular EOS Rebel line with a number of improvements headlined by the 18MP CMOS sensor.
