Sony has just previewed a couple of new concept cams during the PMA show, showing a compact prototype under their Alpha line of cams that use an EVIL system to imply that they’re compact cams with Electronic Viewfinders and Interchangeable Lens (get it?) and not something that will kick your dog just for the hell of it.

Canon has just unveiled the EOS Rebel T2i (also known as the EOS 550D), their newest consumer-class DSLR cam that comes equipped with a spec that’s good enough to compete with far more costly cams, but with a three-digit price range that should still appeal to non-pros. This new cam is still based on the older Rebel T1i released last year, but moves to the top of Canon’s popular EOS Rebel line with a number of improvements headlined by the 18MP CMOS sensor.

Sony has announced a new DSLR cam for their CES lineup called the A450. Filling in somewhere along the entry-to-mid-range of the brand’s Alpha line of performance cams, the A450 is sort of a “lite” version of the existing $950 A550; it keeps the same 14.2MP CMOS sensor, but drops the Live View sensor and tilting LCD display.

Canon has just introduced the EOS 1D Mark IV, the company’s flagship DSLR cam. As such, it packs in the best of what the company is able to fit into the kit’s body, beginning with an APS-H 16-megapixel CMOS sensor and twin DIGIC IV image processors.

Pentax has just announced the K-x, an entry-level DSLR cam that features HD video recording and a Live View function. Compact and lightweight for one-handed shooting, the K-x is built around a 12.4-megapixel CMOS sensor with sensor-shift image stabilization, and Pentax’s PRIME II image processor.
