The bumper solution: Apple launches free case program Apple iPhone 4 case programWhile the white iPhone 4 delay is a downer to the people who were waiting for the expected end-of-the-month release, Apple kind of makes up for it by starting the free case program they promised during the great Antennagate press conference.

Samsung’s new Galaxy S ad has a little bit of zing to it Samsung galaxy s ad

Samsung never really issued a formal statement in reaction to Apple’s experiments that showed Samsung’s Omnia II suffering from death grip , until now. We just assumed that Samsung was cool with it since the iPhone does have some Samsung parts in it, and thought they just didn’ty plan to get into the whole Antennagate debate. This new ad says a lot though, even though it’s pretty short on actual words. You just gotta love the simple subtlety.

The whole “our-phone-can-maintain-a-better-signal-than-yours” debate is actually funny, though. Remember the good old days when mobile brands boasted about cameras, screen sizes and slim profiles? Now that we have all these advanced smartphones, we’re sweating about things like signal strength.

Want to know if the death grip affects your BlackBerry? There’s an app for that. BlackBerry antennameter appIf you were wondering if there was any truth behind Apple’s claim that even BlackBerrys suffer from Death Grip, or you’re a fan who wants to support the BB community and get behind RIM’s reaction, well, here’s an app for you. Called the Antenna Meter App from Xtreme Labs, this free app does exactly that: it constantly auto samples your BlackBerry’s signal strength once every second, letting you check, monitor or experiment signal-related issues. Like if you’re holding your phone right.

The empire strikes back: Apple shows the Nokia N97 choking from the death grip Nokia N97 mini death grip

Apple’s Antenna Performance page—the page they set up to demonstrate that every other smartphone suffers from the “death grip”—originally didn’t show a Nokia phone being death-gripped, but it has one now. We don’t know why it was suddenly put up, since the original demo’d death-gripped phones were limited to the BlackBerry Bold 9700, HTC Droid Eris, and Samsung Omnia II along with their own iPhone 4G and 3GS, but it does strengthen Apple’s point (if you’re into awarding points) that the death grip issue isn’t just Apple’s problem after all. Nokia did try to get all up in Apple’s face during the past few weeks when they posted their “you can hold our phones any way you want” blog post and official statement regarding Apple press conference, so maybe it’s just Apple’s way of hitting back. The iPhone 4 promo videos that Apple will never use banned iphone 4 video

Whatever the issue you had with the iPhone 4’s antenna, Apple ended it with a song that said “If you don’t want an iPhone 4, don’t buy it. If you bought one and you don’t like it, bring it back.” That’s fair. It’s also very logical in the sense that you definitely can’t argue with it. So, we should all just stop with the Antennagate issues already. But just for fun, you might want to check out these iPhone 4 videos for a quick giggle (we’re actually still laughing about it). So hit “read more”, press play, and sit back.
