Intel’s new ultrabook form factor for laptops look to be the PC trend for 2012, with every brand working to put out something slim and sexy to rival the MacBook Air, but Acer just put out what might be the ultimate ultrabook (so far). They’ve just announced the Acer Aspire S5, a laptop that just out-slimmed everyone with a 15mm profile, claiming the title of “world’s thinnest” with a body that’s 2mm thinner than Apple’s existing MacBook Air and a similar 1.35Kg weight.
Acer has introduced the Liquid Express, an entry level smartphone that rocks a 3.5-inch touchscreen and Android 2.3. The phone runs on an 800MHz Snapdragon processor and features a relatively average five-megapixel camera, but gets a little modern with NFC tech that can be used for short-range e-payments.
There are slim notebooks and there are really slim notebooks that look so good, it’s instantly recognizable. Acer’s Aspire S3 notebook? Definitely looks awesome. Instantly recognizable. Unfortunately, we recognized it as something that looks almost exactly like Apple’s MacBook Air – sans the glowing Apple logo on the lid, of course. But is that so bad? Not at all. In fact, if you’re a Windows user, then you’re going to love this. Best of all, it’s also relatively affordable, starting at $900 on Amazon.
