Now, you get to see Siri act, as the digital assistant stars in The Holiday Horror Movie. Okay, it’s actually a spoof trailer for a fake slasher movie, but the clip is something worth watching if you like extra heaps of cheese with your humor and have an extra two minutes on hand. The Holiday Horror Movie trailer starts off with a bunch of kids getting an iPhone 4S for Christmas. Siri then somehow becomes autonomous, and proceeds to murder the proverbial crap out of everyone, Jason-style. Fun! [video after the break].

You might have noticed something different on Google’s homepage today: the usual logo has been replaced with a Google logo-looing guitar. One that you can actually play – provided that you can make heads or tails of the ten strings and the chords they’re all bunched together as. Anyway, the playable-guitar-logo-thing commemorates the late Les Paul’s 96th birthday.

In case you’re not familiar with rock history, Les Paul (June 9, 1915 – August 12, 2009) is an American jazz and country guitarist who pioneered the development of the modern electric guitar, which is credited for making “the sound of rock and roll possible.” Let’s just say that the music you’re listening to right now (as long as you’re actually listening to music and not playing around with Google’s guitar doodle) wouldn’t be the same without this guy. Just don’t blame him for Bieber fever.

Anyway, back to the doodle: you can strum or pluck the strings by running your mouse over them, or you can click on the keyboard icon to use your keyboard for a little bit of accuracy. Finding the note sequences are a bit tricky with the mouse, but we did manage to pluck out a song with the keyboard.

Try G-G-H-G-K-J, G-G-H-G-L-K. (Happy birthday Les!)

Nvidia and YouTube has teamed up to put out a number of free 3D videos that you can view for free. While anyone can check out the 3D clips posted on YouTube, it’s not exactly for everyone, because you’re going to need to view them using Nvidia’s own 3D Vision kit to get the full effect. The effect being what Nvidia calls the best 3D videos available on YouTube.

You can check the 3D clips here (or on the 3DVLive YouTube channel) if you own Nvidia’s 3D kit and you’ve set your browser to enable HTML5 viewing. But then again, if you’ve already plunked down the dough for Nvidia’s 3D Vision kit and the necessary 3D-capable monitor, you’re probably doing something more awesome with it already. You know, like play 3D games or watch 3D movies with them.

If you have a PC, Google TV, iOS or Android device and a couple of hours to burn, here’s something you might want to have to check out. Okay, you really don’t have to do it but since you have time to spare, just go for it. YouTube is serving up full movies for free. And we’re not talking about previews, teaser clips, or do-something-to-watch-them tricks here: we’re talking full-length films that you can burn a couple of hours with. Granted, we’re not exactly talking about premium Hollywood hits here either, but hey, if you like classics and B-Movies like Alice in Wonderland (the 1949 classic starring Carol Marsh; not the weird, trippy one that stars bug-eyed Johnny Depp), Supercroc and Horror of the Zombies, awesome for you.

All you have to do is point your desktop browser to www.youtube.com/movies, and that’s it. The page gives you a number of titles, sorted by genre. If you’re on a mobile device, like an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, use your Mobile Safari browser to get to the page.

Before you complain about the lack of recent hits, just remember that it’s free and free stuff is always awesome.

Here’s what just went down during day two of Google’s I/O 2011 keynote: the Chrome Web Store has expanded to 41 languages to give more people access to the apps, and they also mentioned that they’re only getting five percent of app revenues, so 95 percent of the app’s price goes to the developer. That’s all good and well, but what does it mean to the average Joe? Unfortunately, the announcements won’t make much of a difference to you if you use Firefox or IE to surf the web. But here’s something that might make you want to switch: Angry Birds just jumped to the web, letting you sling these unhappy avians towards green pigs like you would on a smartphone or tablet using your browser… if you don’t own or don’t have access to a smartphone or tablet. Awesome if you’d rather use a mouse to play the game, and good news if you don’t own an Android or iOS device. Best of all, it’s totally free, as long as you’re running Chrome. (Actually, it looks like the game will be able to run on other browsers that supports WebGL, but Firefox 4 is currently not supported… yet.)

You can download the online app here.

By the way, if the game’s got you beat, the buyable Mighty Eagle solution will also be available on this version if you want to get past certain annoying stages that you can’t figure out. In case you wanted to know where your money lands, you’d be happy to know that most of it goes into the developer’s pockets. Google just announced that they’ll be applying a flat fee of five percent of purchases from the Chrome Web Store, so 95 percent goes to the geniuses that made the apps possible. Nice move, Google.

It’s been a short wait since Apple released iOS 4.3.1, but because a lot of people have been experiencing issues with frozen FaceTime calls and 3G connection issues on the iPad, here’s your fix. The iOS 4.3.2 update fixes connection issues on GSM (AT&T) iOS devices, which includes the international version of the iPad. Everyone on Verizon also gets an update to iOS 4.2.7.

Also out – surprisingly quickly – is the Redsn0W 0.9.6 tool, which can jailbreak the iPhone 4, 3GS iPad and iPod touch 3G/4G on both Windows and Mac. It’s a tethered jailbreak though, which means that you’re going to have to be tethered every time you need to reboot your device. It also won’t unlock your iPhone, so stay away from this one if your iPhone uses a carrier unlock.

Check out the step-by-step and download links for Redsn0w 0.9.6 at Redmond Pie here.

Before anything else, remember that this post is about a quick clip that was showed on Conan last week. And the quote above shouldn’t be taken seriously. It’s Conan, people! Anyway, check out the video where they spoof the usual intro video that Apple does when introducing a new product. Basically, the message is: it doesn’t matter what they say. You’ll buy it anyway. Actually they’re partly correct on that one, since the thing can sell itself. If Steve Jobs said “screw it, we don’t need to hold an event for this one,” we’re pretty sure a lot of people would still line up for it. But the part where the one dude mentioned that they added “two holes with cheap cameras in them,” that was priceless. That part actually borders a bit on fact, but we never planned to buy the iPad 2 for the camera anyway. Did you? Video after the break.

Never thought you’d hear (or in this case, read) that sentence in your life, did you? Well, it’s true anyway. Here’s a 10-minute video of a guy an idiot who, for some reason unknown to us, decided to cover a working PSP in batter, deep-fry it – essentially ruining a perfectly working handheld console – and then eat it. Or at least try to. At around the 9-minute mark, he’s still gagging. Yeah, it made us squirm. Not because of the potential dangers of ingesting burned plastic, metals and battery acids, but… you know, it’s a waste of PSP. Somebody tell these guys that Jackass is so 2002. You’ve probably seen worse, but if you were looking for idiotic videos on YouTube, here’s an effective way to waste 10 minutes of your life. Video after the break.

Youtube live streaming" width="500" height="212" />Thanks to last year’s successful trials where they streamed live Indian Premiere League cricket matches (they got 55 million views from more than 250 countries), Google plans to stream more live sports soon. According to this report, Google is talking with the National Basketball Association and the National Hockey League, as well as soccer leagues in Europe. Not that we don’t already spend more than enough time on YouTube, but if they ever pull through, that’s good news for sports fans like us who hate having to stand up from the computer desk just to turn on the TV.

Just don’t hope for it too happen anytime soon, since it doesn’t really look that that close to happening just yet. NHL spokesperson Michael DiLorenzo said that they weren’t in discussions about streaming live games over YouTube, while Michael Bass, NBA senior vice president for marketing communications, said they were “pleased that YouTube recognizes the value of live sports.” If you didn’t catch it, that’s pretty much polite marketing speak for “we’re neither confirming or denying anything, but it’s nice of them to be thinking about it.” We’re still crossing our fingers though. 55 million cricket-viewing fans is a lot of people, but we’d really rather see live streams of sports that involve tall guys jumping over one another or big bruisers with sticks wailing on each other.

Yahoo just put out word that they won’t be accepting video uploads to Yahoo Video from users anymore. Not that a lot of people would mind since it looks like most people are more likely to use good old YouTube and Vimeo anyway. Yahoo didn’t give any reasons for the move, but if you’ve got videos on their servers, you’re going to have to pull them out before March 15. If, for some reason you do have a user-generated video you want to download from Yahoo Video, you can do so using a software utility on your profile page, along with a suggestion to upload them to Flickr. Yahoo’s message after the break.

Here’s the email sent to Yahoo Video users:

Dear Yahoo! Video user,

After careful consideration, we will be removing all general user-generated content upload capability and user-uploaded video from Yahoo! Video. As a result, your videos, user profiles, ratings, favorites, and playlists will no longer be available after March 14, 2011. User video content from Yahoo! Video that remains embedded on third party sites will no longer be playable after March 14, 2011.

Available on your profile page is a software utility that will allow you to download the videos you have uploaded to Yahoo! Video to your computer through March 14, 2011. You can find your profile by clicking on the \’My Video\’ tab or going to http://video.yahoo.com/mypage.

Once you download your videos, you may choose to upload them to another site such as Flickr, which now allows video uploads. You can find out more here: http://www.flickr.com/explore/video.

Thanks for your understanding and thanks for being a part of Yahoo! Video.
