Anyone who has an Android phone knows what the Google Talk app does: it’s an instant messaging app that’s part of the Android OS app pack. Whether you use it much or not, it’s in there anyway, but the simple app you always had on your Android phone might be getting a lot more love from you now: Google announced an update that adds a new video chat feature, which is basically a quick fix that’ll give you the ability to do FaceTime-like video chats on an Android phone.
Mozilla just released the final version of Firefox 4 for Android (a version for Maemo is also out, in case you rock the Maemo-running Nokia N900). The new mobile browser features a JavaScript engine that’s listed to be up to three times faster than Google’s standard browser, while offering most of the goodies found on the desktop version. Most notably, the mobile version also comes with the Awesome Screen for one-touch access to bookmarks, history and search engines, tabbed browsing that’ll let you quick-switch between pages, and a Firefox Sync feature that’ll let you sync bookmarks, tabs and add-ons from your desktop. Mozilla’s intro video for Firefox 4 for Android is available after the break.
