Literally, a new twist. It’s pretty much the same wireless controller, but with a D-pad that can be twisted to take the shape of a defined “plus,” and twisted back to give you the typical disc. Apparently, some people miss the classic plus shape that you’d normally see on Nintendos, although it seems strange that they’d even bother reworking it since players are more likely to use the left stick—not the D-pad—to move around games anyway. Oh, and they also redid the colors, dropping the red/green/blue/yellow colors on the ABXY buttons and painted them in different shades of gray. Nice touch, although the lack of colors could confuse newer players who still tend to look down at the controls. Video that demos the twisty button action after the break.

That collective sigh you just heard came from PS3 gamers in Australia, after a court ruled in favor of Sony that temporarily bans Oz Modchips and Quadtronics from distributing the PS Jailbreak USB device in the country. The PS Jailbreak USB dongle allows gamers to copy and load games into the Playstation 3’s hard drive, which opens the console up to software piracy by allowing games to run without loading the original game disc.

Interested in jailbreaking your Playstation 3? A new USB dongle called the “PS Jailbreak,” set to arrive before the month ends, promises to help you with that. The $150 accessory is basically a modchip that allows you to run games straight off the PS3’s hard drive without needing the game disc, but since you don’t have to hard-wire it into your system, it supposedly won’t break the warranty.

While we all thought that most high-end gaming keyboards were already of the mechanical type, Razer says we’re wrong. “Most mechanical keyboards in the market today are standard mechanical keyboards rebadged as gaming keyboards that feature stiff keys that cause key actuation fatigue,” says Razer. This keyboard aims to correct all that with the BlackWidow, which they’re listing as the ‘world’s first mechanical keyboard designed for gaming.’

Gaming accessory maker Razer’s Orca headset was specifically designed to look good and feel comfy, while delivering premium sound. The sound quality, while not perceivably perfect for demanding audiophiles, should be good enough for th e $60 price tag (also, audiophiles should know enough to stay away from $60 gaming headsets anyway). Comfortable? We have no reason to doubt the design. Does it look good? Now that’s entirely a matter of opinion. The shade of bright Hulk-green they used is certainly striking, and while we’d probably have no problems wearing it while working Call of Duty on a desktop, we think the color’s just too loud to rock outside and it doesn’t match any of our shoes. Or shirts. Or umbrellas. Why did they call it the Orca anyway? Aren’t Orcas black and white?
