LG to release slimmer, brighter 20 inch OLED TVs this year   LG OLED

LG Display will begin production on 20-inch OLED (Organic LED) screens later this year, according to VP Won Kim. Usually found on high-end mobile phones, OLED technology allows for power efficient displays that are not only slim, but also brighter, and more vividly colored.

Acer outs 23 inch 3D ready LCD monitor   acer g245hqAcer has just announced the GD235HZ, a 23.6-inch HD monitor that features a fast 120Hz refresh rates for crisp graphics during fast-moving sequences. What else is a fast 120Hz panel good for? It’ll be able to handle Nvidia’s GeForce 3D Vision tech (the kit with digital 3D glasses) for awesome pop-in-your-face stereoscopic 3D gaming.

That’s the answer to “what else can we do to a digital photo frame to make it more interesting?” Casio’s new Digital Art Frame separates itself from the rest of the pack not by adding internet connectivity (which is the answer to “what would be the most unnecessary feature we can add to a digital photo frame to make it needlessly expensive?”), but by adding a “Snapshot-to-painting conversion” function.

RoyalTek intros 4.6 inch porta projector   RoyalTek RPJ 2000RoyalTek has introduced the RPJ-2000, a tiny portable projector that measures 4.64 inches long and less than an inch thick, but is able to come up with a 65-inch image. It’s powered by a built-in 1200mAh battery and is equipped with a 14lm LED bulb that’s rated for up to 20,000 hours. Certified for use with Apple’s iPods and iPhones (with an add-on $43 adapter), the RPJ-2000 can also connect to the usual devices such as laptops and set-top boxes with Video input and VGA ports. Despite the size, it still offers the basics, with an on-screen display function, a manual focus wheel, and an integrated 0.5W stereo speaker. The RPJ-2000 is priced at $315.

LG shows off 0.1 inch thick LCD panel   LG 2.6mm LCD

LG Display has just unveiled a new LCD TV panel that they claim to be the thinnest ever. At only a tenth-of-an-inch thick, it’s hard to dispute the claim. To get a better scale of just how slim this set is, Samsung’s Ultra 5.9 U100 phone (released back in 2007) is one of the slimmest ever at 5.9mm thick. Apple’s iPod shuffle (the latest-gen) measures a third-of-an-inch (7.8mm) thick. This 42-inch HDTV? 2.6mm thick.
