News about the rumored “iPad mini” is starting to heat up again. Fortune is reporting that a major Apple investor (who heard it from multiple sources) told them that Apple is ready to send out the official press invites for the launch of the smaller iPad.
Details about the new iPad – expected to be smaller and cheaper to rival the Nexus 7 and Amazon’s new Kindles – weren’t given, but the unnamed source did mention that the press can expect invitations on October 10.
Following Apple’s usual release schedules, an Oct 10 invitation could mean an introduction event on the 17th, followed by a release date roughly two weeks later. November 2 falls on a Friday, and is handily a couple of weeks before Black Friday. An early-November launch should also give Apple’s manufacturers enough time to ramp up production for the holidays.
