Gaming hardware company Digital Storm has announced the X17E, a gaming laptop that they claim to be the ‘world’s fastest’. We don’t know about you, but we tend to get worked up when someone claims to be the best at something, because it makes you want to check out what’s what. Well, the hardware under the hood looks like it’s ready to back up the claim, thanks to a system that runs on Intel’s Core i7-3910XM that the company’s technicians can “stably overclock to 4.5GHz.”
Like most other gaming laptops, this isn’t built to be slim and light… or stylish for that matter (although it doesn’t look bad at all. Or at least as far as huge, chunky performance laptops go). The X17E features a 17-inch, 1080p display that’s powered by either NVIDIA’s GTX 680M or AMD’s Radeon 7970M GPU, while the memory slots can be topped out to 32GB of RAM.
Other features include a backlit keyboard that’s split into different lighting zones (that can be lit up in seven different colors), USB 3.0 and eSata ports, a card reader, and a Blu-ray drive.
The X17E is set to arrive by the end of September, starting at $1,753. Digital Storm also mentioned a Signature Edition that features a custom paint job, distinct branding and special packaging (no word on further spec upgrades though), but they didn’t mention the price or availability.
