JBL has announced a new variant of the two-piece Jembe desktop speakers that they released late last year. The Jembe Wireless basically features the same round-can design (with a different matte finish) as the original, but with Bluetooth connectivity for hooking up with laptops and mobile devices without the wires. It doesn’t come with an option for running on batteries though, so it’s still going to be tied to a wall socket.
The Jembe Wireless features the company’s TrueStream technology for optimizing sound quality from a wireless source, while maintaining the same Slipstream port tech (that adds a more powerful bass) from the original kit. The speakers themselves feature an output of 20W and a frequency response of 80Hz-20kHz, as well as a 3.5mm audio-out connection at the back for plugging in a headset.
The JBL Jembe Wireless is available now for $99, but if you don’t really need a wireless pair of speakers, the original 2-piece Jembe is still available for $49.
