Samsung has announced that they’re going to be bringing over their 75-inch TV to the US in August. Called the ES9000, this gigantic HDTV will serve as the company’s flagship model that sports a mix of features brought over from the ES8000 series (that tops out at 60 inches) and a bunch of unique new additions.
The most obvious ‘unique’ feature on the ES9000 is the bezel. Awash in a rose gold color, the TV’s frame certainly stands out from the sea of blacks and silvers (and clear) colors you’ll usually see on an HDTV.
This set also sports a camera that pops up from behind the bezel and retracts when not in use. The camera itself comes with gesture and voice support, letting you control the cam with… gestures and voice, of course. Besides working as a camera for huge, 75-inch video chat sessions on Skype, the cam also works with the Angry Birds app that it ships with. Also available as a free download for supported Smart TV models (namely, Samsung’s ES7500 and ES8000 series HDTVs), this version of the popular game is controlled using gestures.
Samsung didn’t release the ES9000’s official specs and numbers, but they did detail the tech behind the screen. It’s going to feature the company’s Micro Dimming Ultimate and Precision Black Local Dimming technologies, which Samsung claims improve black levels and sharpness by 30 percent, and brightness by 60 percent compared to the ES8000.
Sounds like the perfect screen to fill out that empty wall you’ve got in your living room? You’ve got a month to save up. The ES9000 will set you back $9,999 when it starts shipping in August, and comes bundled with four pairs of 3D glasses.
