If you’re an Apple device user who tried out Google’s just-released Chrome browser for iOS and liked it – or at least liked it better than the vanilla Safari browser that came with your device – then you’re going to want to change the Apple-built browser that came with your phone. Unfortunately, Apple won’t allow you to do that, but if you own a jailbroken device, here’s a new tweak that you might find useful: BrowserChooser is a free tweak that will let you change the default browser to any non-Safari browser you want.
All you need is a jailbroken phone and an internet connection that’ll let you search and download the tweak on Cydia, but since you’ve already hit the ‘read more’ button, you likely already have that. Anyway, power up Cydia and tap on Manage > Sources > Edit > Add, then add this repo address: http://rpetri.ch/repo.
Once the repository has been added, search for BrowserChooser and tap on ‘install’. Once that’s done, go to the Settings app and scroll down to BrowserChooser, which will show all the browser apps you have installed. Just select which one you prefer from here – in case you haven’t tried it yet, Chrome is pretty nice.
Once everything’s set, your chosen browser should pop up every time you hit a link, the way it originally did with Safari.
