Top-end performance and compact mobility don’t usually go hand-in-hand when you think about notebooks, but if that’s what you’re specifically looking for, you might want to check out what just became available. Eurocom has started shipping the Monster, a notebook that targets mobile professionals (and gamers looking for a notebook that’ll fit into a small bag) with high-end performance options stuffed into a notebook with an 11.6-inch screen.
Despite the chunky netbook-sized frame, the Eurocom Monster wasn’t designed for the light user. With options that top out with an Ivy Bridge Core-i7-3920XM processor that can be overclocked to 2.8GHz, 16GB of DDR3 RAM, and NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M graphics, and storage options that include a 1TB hard drive, 750GB of hybrid storage or a 600GB SSD, this tiny notebook was designed for way more than web browsing and word processing.
Built for pros on-the-go, the Monster can be used as a mobile server capable of running multiple Windows VMs and Linux. Or as a high-end gaming machine if you’re fine with the tiny 11.6-inch, 1366 x 768 resolution screen.
The rest of the spec includes USB 3.0 ports, VGA-out, a 1.3MP webcam, Wi-fi, Bluetooth and Gigabit Ethernet, while other options include HDMI and matte/glossy screen choices. Prices start at $825, and top out at around $3,800 for the top-end, go-for-broke configuration.
