If you already own an iPhone or iPod touch, then you’ve likely ran into this problem: gaming on the touchscreen is fine, but sometimes your finger gets in the way, blocking a considerable percentage of what’s already a very tight screen. Also, some games would have been better if you had actual buttons to press with your thumbs. Well, here’s your solution: the iCade Mobile has been released, an accessory that essentially turns your iPhone into a touchscreen-equipped PSP for $80.
The iCade Mobile is basically a long case that fits iPhones and the iPod touch with a four-way D-pad on one side and four action buttons on the other. The case’s edge also houses four triggers for mapping added controls and functions, while the dock cradle rotates and locks into place, allowing for landscape and portrait views.
The iCade Mobile houses two AA batteries and hooks up with the iPhone or iPod touch using a wireless Bluetooth connection.
The mobile gaming accessory currently lists support for over 400 games (including Frogger Decades and Temple Run), and is compatible with the 3rd and 4th generation iPod touch, iPhone 3, 3G, 4 and 4S, as well as the iPad, iPad 2, and new iPad (with Bluetooth, of course).
