Pure has just introduced a new iOS speaker dock that not only docks, charges, and booms out music stored on your iDevice, it also features Wi-fi and Ethernet connectivity for media streaming with Apple’s AirPlay. Called the Contour 200i Air, the dock features a design for fitting Apple’s iPhone, iPod and iPad, as well as the ability to stream audio from a computer running iTunes.
It’s not limited to playing songs you already own though, Like most of Pure’s products, this kit stream internet radio from the Pure Lounge app running on an iDevice. Available for free on iTunes, the app will let you stream from up to 16,000 internet radio stations and podcasts.
Under the mesh, the Contour 200i Air sports a pair of 3.5-inch drivers and twin bass ports for pumping out a full range of sound from the compact frame, while a digital output connection allows it to be hooked up to a hi-fi system, but if that’s not enough, you can stream audio wirelessly to multiple Contour 200i Air kits, allowing you to spread the music to every room in the house if you happen to have more than one. The speaker dock also comes bundled with a remote control for controlling playback and volume.
The Pure Contour 200i Air is currently available in the UK for £200 (around $300), although there’s no word on pricing and availability in North America yet.
