We’ve already seen the Galaxy S III’s hardware and we’ve taken a closer look at the features that Samsung’s latest flagship is set to offer (along with the official accessories from Samsung). Basically, we’ve seen enough to know that the Galaxy S III – along with HTC’s One X – is the phone to aim for if you’re looking for Android’s toppermost of the poppermost. With that said all we need now is a price and release—oh wait. Here it is. It’s already up for pre-order on Amazon.
The pre-order details are for the unlocked, unsubsidized version though, so it’s not going to be cheap. Amazon has both the Galaxy S III in white and blue versions going for $799.99, and is listed to be released on May 25. Expect it to arrive around June 1st though. The price is for the base 16GB model, so expect the 32GB version to cost around $100 more. Samsung has also mentioned a 64GB model in the works; there’s no word on a release for that top-end version, but you’re going to want to save up a lot more for that one.
It’s certainly pricey if you don’t want to pick it up with a two-year contract, but if you’re looking for a new high-end Android phone with a cheaper price tag, check out the HTC One X.
