Sprint will be launching the LG Viper 4G LTE, their first LTE smartphone, on April 22… at least according to a leaked internal memo that we have no reason to doubt. Sprint did mention that pre-orders start on April 12 along with an offer for free cloud storage for people who sign up before April 22 after all, so the dates do line up.
So here’s the deal: For “less than $100” (likely close to $99), the LG Viper 4G LTE gives you a 4-inch, 480 x 800 display, a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, and 4GB of storage along with a VGA webcam and 5MP main cam. The 4GB of internal storage is a little cramped, but it also comes with a microSD slot for adding more. The phone also comes with NFC, along with support for the Google Wallet e-payment feature.
Interestingly, the internal document also boasts the phone’s eco-friendly features, which entail the use of recycled plastics, non-hazardous materials, power efficiency, and recyclable packaging. We have no idea how much this makes it that much appealing to the average consumer, but if a ‘green’ phone rocks your boat, then mark your calendars.
