Samsung is preparing to add a handful of new Galaxy-branded devices soon. After filing trademarks for three Galaxy names earlier this month (for the Galaxy Thunder, Galaxy Express, and Galaxy Premier), Samsung has filed for protection for three more called the Galaxy Grand, Galaxy Premier, and Galaxy Next.
While none of the six new names have been attached to any rumored devices yet, one of them refers to a phone that Samsung has already released. The existing Galaxy Mini has already been released in other markets as the Galaxy Next. The ‘Next’ name hasn’t been used in the US yet though, so there’s a huge possibility that the name gets slapped onto a new device.
This is just a trademark filing though, with no guarantee that Samsung will use them in the near future. The Galaxy Grand and Galaxy Premier names sound fancy though, and sounds likely to be slapped onto a premium device. Carrier variants for the Galaxy S III, perhaps?
