Microsoft’s Windows Phone OS has finally arrived in China riding on the country’s first WP-smartphone, the HTC Eternity. Basically looking like a tweaked version of the Titan, the phone also rocks a 4.7-inch screen and 1.3MP webcam up front, and an eight megapixel camera at the back.
The difference is all in the software: the phone will feature support for both simplified and traditional Chinese, with an interface that has been designed to show off the “inherent beauty of Chinese characters.” It will be sold unlocked as an “open market” handset, but pricing wasn’t mentioned.
Microsoft also mentioned that the name “Eternity” is only a codename, and that the phone’s official Chinese name translates closer to something like “Triumph” or “Victory.”
The rest of the spec wasn’t detailed on Microsoft’s Windows Team Blog, but this won’t be the only WP phone in the country for long. Nokia is expected to introduce new Lumia models for the Chinese market (such as the Lumia 719) later this month.
