Western Digital has hit a new landmark for portable drives when they updated their My Passport line of compact external drives. Rocking a new exterior design, WD’s My Passport now tops out at 2TB, which makes it the first portable drive to hit the 2TB capacity.
As far as features go, it pretty much maintains WD’s usual set of preinstalled stuff, such as automated backups and password protection. The drive also features a USB 3.0 connection with USB 2.0 compatibility for hooking up with older, slower devices.
The new My Passport drive will be available in five colors, depending on the capacity. The My Passport line include 500GB ($130), 750GB ($150), 1TB ($180), 1.5TB ($200) and 2TB ($250) capacities, with the top end version only available in black.
