Classic gaming on-the-go: NeoGeo X handheld console will be out in Q2

Earlier this year, there was a rumor that SNK will be releasing a new Neo Geo handheld console that came preloaded with classic games. Probably not the most exciting news if you’re the type of gamer who’s into the latest and greatest in gaming, but if that was news to you, then here’s a biggie: the rumor has now been confirmed. Officially called the NeoGeo X, the new portable won’t be competing with the Nintendo 3DS or PlayStation Vita with high-end graphics and cutting edge mobile gaming, but will give you old-school gaming goodness with 20 classic Neo Geo games built-in.

Distributed by Blaze in Australia, Europe and the Middle East and by Tommo in the US, the NeoGeo X will feature a 3.5-inch LCD screen in between a thumbstick and four action buttons, as well as stereo speakers, a headphone jack, AV out, and an SD card slot. It’s a pretty simple kit, but you shouldn’t really need that much to play “Metal Slug”.

Pricing and availability wasn’t given besides the “second quarter” release, but here’s the list of preloaded games it’s going to arrive with:
