An interesting report floated up from the CU Exposed (a showcase for Mac accessories) in the UK. According to an anonymous vendor at the event – from a “key player in MacBook docking solutions” who’s likely privy to Apple’s upcoming releases – Apple will be unveiling a 15-inch MacBook Air in April.
This is not the first time we’ve heard of it, but it does make it a little bit more likely now, thanks to the source. If true, it could pretty much eat the market for Apple’s own 15-inch MacBook Pro for the mainstream crowd – as well as compete more directly with the new batch of 15-inch ultrabooks – although the tipster also said that Apple might hold on to the 17-inch MacBook Pro for professionals.
Details on the bigger MacBook Air was a bit slim, but the source did mention that the upcoming ultraslim will feature ports on both sides, no Ethernet cable, and – as is the case with earlier MacBook Air models – no optical drive.
