It looks like Lenovo’s planning to release a new tablet with a screen that matches the iPad. A listing for a Lenovo tablet called the IdeaTab S2109 has been spotted in the FCC database, a slate that will reportedly feature a 9.7-inch, IPS-based screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio that matches Apple’s 1st and 2nd-gen iPads, although it’s unlikely to match the resolution on the new iPad’s Retina Display.
The other reported details include Android 4.0 and a TI OMAP processor under the hood, and four SRS-capable speakers outside, while the provided diagram reveals an external microSD card slot. The label also reveals a relatively high power requirement, showing a 2.5A input at 5V, which would require a 12.5W adapter to charge (tablets usually come with a 10W adapter).
No word on a launch date just yet, but it could be out as soon as late March. The FCC document also points to availability in Germany, Canada, US, India, Russia, Turkmenistan, Mexico, Chile, Japan and China.
