Now that Conan O’brien is snuggled comfortably with TBS‘ late night programming block for more than a year now (after the entire “Battle for the Late Night Show” debacle), his team is offering something new to fans with the Team Coco tablet app.

Available for the iPad and Android powered tablets, the Team Coco tablet app is a product of a partnership with AT&T and is meant to provide an extra layer for fans to experience the show. It functions as an interactive secondary screen where fans have access to bonus content, stream videos, and communicate with other viewers.
During its broadcasts (Mondays to Tuesday at 11pm), fans can launch the app while watching Conan on their TVs. The app will begin automatically displaying exclusive content like trivia, show notes and behind-the-scenes footages in sync with the show. This is accomplished using the device’s microphone, which detects the audio of the episode you are watching, and churns out the bonus content tagged specifically for that segment. As such, the app will function with recent episodes of the show, those recorded by your DVR, as well as live streaming videos from within the app itself.
All these are presented in a timeline format, allowing you to simply scroll up and down the app’s interface to access content from recent episodes. It will also carry the latest updates like new videos, slideshows, and blog posts. And under all this is a social layer for interacting with your friends and other Conan viewers.
But aside from the app itself, the ad for it is also worth a look. Carrying the same brand of humor, Conan sputters out over-the-top statements like “This app has access to time travel portals NASA doesn’t want you to talk about. You’ll see dinosaurs.” and ” There you go: The Team Coco Tablet App. It’s better than you.”
The Team Coco Tablet App is a free download from the iTunes App Store and the Android Market, and will be compatible for devices running iOS 4.0, or Honeycomb.
