Adobe, during the World Mobile Congress in Barcelona this week, announced the availability of Photoshop Touch for the iPad 2 on the iTunes App Store. The company decided to first release it for Android mobile devices last year, promising iOS users invites to the tablet image manipulation shindig. And after much waiting, Apple fanboys everywhere can now download the touch-enabled image editing software, enabling them to create and edit images on-the-go.
Like its desktop brethren, Adobe Photoshop Touch will allow you to create, and modify images using some of the most familiar features we’ve all grown to love from the software. This includes layers, image selection and adjustment options, as well as a plethora of filters.
However, unlike its desktop predecessor, it will come with a lot of capabilities developed exclusively for the iPad 2 and its easy access to the social Web. For instance, you would be able to find and copy images via Google Image Search, or take photos using the tablet’s built-in cam to fill a layer of the graphics you’re working on. These can easily be uploaded to the Adobe Creative Cloud service, and can be accessed and further modified using Photoshop CS5 on a desktop with perhaps better tools other than your fingers, like you know, a drawing tablet perhaps.

Photoshop Touch for the iPad 2, according to Adobe, will be the first of many applications for Apple’s tablet computer that will make up the Adobe Touch Apps imaging suite. The rest of the apps are expected to debut into the App store within the year.
Adobe Photoshop Touch for the iPad 2 is a $9.99 download from the iTunes App Store.
