While a number of earlier rumors have mentioned that the next-gen iPad is going to be thicker than the iPad 2, we’ve yet to see solid proof to support the claims. Well, here’s possible proof that those rumors could be true: a photo posted in Apple.pro shows an alleged iPad 3 frame being measured using digital calipers. The verdict? The new tablet – provided that this is indeed a legit shot of the next iPad – is definitely thicker, measuring 9.5mm, or around 0.8mm thicker than the iPad 2.
Apple has just confirmed that they’ll be showing off the next-gen iPad on March 7th in San Francisco. While the invitation doesn’t provide any details, a thicker iPad has long been expected as an effect of trying to fit a higher-resolution display and a beefier spec that possibly includes a quad-core processor, a better rear camera, and LTE connectivity.
