Samsung has put out the full Super Bowl ad they teased last week, starting with the usual scenes of “bored” Apple fans waiting in line to get an iPhone. Again, someone pulls out a Samsung Galaxy Note, and… things just get weird from here on out. The Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins suddenly appears, a guitar drops into his hands and sings the main lick from “I Believe in a Thing Called Love,” Galaxy Notes start falling from the sky, and everyone – including the Apple fans in line – joins in an impromptu street party that includes a marching band, the cute girl from their earlier ad, stunt bikers and skateboarders, and a dude who shoots out of a cannon.
Never mind all the activity going on – the whole “party” scene revolves around the Galaxy Note. Throughout the video, people were shown making use of the device’s main features, including the stylus pen, video chatting, and photo and video-taking. While it’s certainly not realistic (are people still waiting in line for iPhones? Last time we checked, you can get an iPhone just about anywhere now), we imagine we’d be joining a street party too if Galaxy Notes just fell from the sky and into our grubby hands. Because that thing’s expensive, set to go for $300 with a contract. Ouch.
Did you catch the unintentional comedy at the end? We laughed a little when Samsung’s tagline “The next big thing is already here… again” was followed by “Coming soon.”
