Bluetooth keyboards aren’t necessarily a new thing these days, but while they can work with both desktops and mobile devices, they can only pair with one device at any one time. Accessory maker Matias has come up with a handy solution with people who work on desktops but would prefer a faster way of typing text on the iPhone without having to pick up an extra dedicated keyboard for it. Called the One Keyboard, this keyboard has a dedicated button for instantly switching between a PC or Mac and an iPhone.
The One Keyboard generally looks like a regular desktop keyboard, save for a built-in cradle for parking an iPhone above the arrow keys, and a dedicated “iPhone” button that switches between desktop use and the paired iPhone. Besides that, the One Keyboard also sports two USB 2.0 ports and connects via USB for power.
The One Keyboard is available in Windows and Mac versions for $100.
Matias has also introduced a couple of variants that feature device-switching: the $80 Slim One is a more compact keyboard that features Chiclet keys and a wireless connection to a separate stand for parking an iPhone, but without a USB hub. The $200 Tactile One is another full-sized keyboard that features mechanical keyswitches and a 3-port USB hub.
The One Keyboard and Slim One is now available from the Matias website, while the Tactile One is only available for pre-orders. All three keyboards offer support for the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and 4S, as well as the iPod Touch from the third generation.
